Daniel Rodger
Daniel Rodger studied for his first degree at the University of Birmingham where he remained studying Music as a postgraduate. Awards for the study of music have included postgraduate student awards from the Ralph Vaughan Williams Trust, 2 Barber Postgraduate Scholarships, 2 Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival Bursaries, 2 Bursaries from the Newby Trust, a Bursary from the Fairway Trust, a G D Cunningham Postgraduate Scholarship (‘awarded as funds permit to a graduate of exceptional ability, nominated by the Faculty of Arts on the recommendation of the Professor of Music’), a Bursary from the Dartington International Summer School Foundation, and other small awards from the Francis Chagrin Fund, the Sir Richard Stapley Educational Trust and the Kathleen and Margery Elliott Trust. As an undergraduate he studied the piano for several years at the Birmingham Conservatoire as well as clarinet and guitar. He also studied clarinet and guitar at Bedales School as well as having the privilege of performing in student pop and jazz groups with a number of other pupils including the drummer Jeremy Panufnik, son of the Polish composer Sir Andrzej Panufnik. Performance locations included the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Windsor Safari Park, Piccadilly Wine Bar, and Oxford May Balls. At an earlier age he also studied the cello for several years which included study at the music conservatoire in St Germain en Laye, France. He holds a BA in General Studies (1989), an MA in Music (1991) and an MPhil in Musical Composition (1997). In 1995 Daniel was briefly a visiting music lecturer at the University of Birmingham. From 1995 to 1997 he was part-time piano teacher at Joseph Chamberlain Sixth Form College. Since 1997 his pursuits have been in other directions, studyingd plumbing, computer programming, and becomeing a fully qualified Cisco Certified Network Associate. In 2001 Daniel was baptized as a Christian. In 2006 he met John Goss who was looking for someone to help with the music for his musical pantomime.
